Trust Centre gets a Defibrillator

A defibrillator has been installed on the outside wall of the Trust Centre, thanks to a gift from Rotary.  Defibrillators are emergency life saving equipment, delivering an electric current to the heart in life-threatening cardiac conditions and available 24 hours a day.

Trust Chairman Cedric Kennedy, speaking at the installation ceremony, welcomed the opportunity to have the machine outside the Centre.  'It gives further support to the community, which is the Trust's aim', he said.

The funds for the defibrillator were donated by Rotary International's charity, Rotary Foundation, to mark its 100th anniversary.  It was installed by Rotary District 1260, which governs Rotary Clubs in Beds, Herts and Bucks.  Harpenden Village Rotary Club made the presentation.

Harpenden Town Mayor, Rosemary Farmer, receives the defibrillator on behalf of the community from Rotary Club President, Brian Grant.  Also pictured are, from the left, Rotary Club Community Chairman, Roy Brimblecombe; Rotary District Governor, Chalmers Cursley; and Harpenden Trust Chairman, Cedric Kennedy.
