The Harpenden Trust has a range of opportunities for volunteers to get involved, for those of you who just have a few hours to spare and those who have time for a more regular commitment.

We rely on the goodwill of people like you because, without the involvement of our volunteers, we could not support the individuals, families and organisations across Harpenden that need our support. Here is a selection of our volunteer roles; there is something to suit everyone.

Regular Volunteers

There are many different roles if you would like to get involved on a regular basis. For example, you could help at coffee mornings, become a regular driver or befriend a lonely person, visiting them for a friendly chat. Or you might prefer to help behind the scenes with administration.

Christmas Volunteers

We are always looking for new helpers, and especially Collectors for our annual Christmas Appeal. This role involves about 6 hours’ commitment during December. It is a very rewarding role because the money raised provides half of our Care Fund’s annual expenditure supporting individuals, families and young people in need of a helping hand.

Alternatively, would you like to deliver a Christmas parcel to an elderly resident who may otherwise miss out on Christmas treats?

Occasional Volunteers

If you feel you cannot make a regular commitment, but would like to help at one-off events, or with occasional driving or odd-jobs, then we would also be keen to hear from you. Maybe you have a particular skill or interest that would be of benefit to our organisation. The Trust maintains a list of occasional volunteers, noting their skills and interests and availability, and gets in touch when the need arises.

The Trust is committed to embracing diversity and promoting equality and inclusion when recruiting volunteers and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and skills. We provide appropriate training for all our volunteers and have adopted a range of policies to support them in their roles. Some of the roles are mentioned above, but please contact us for more details by calling or email us at [email protected].
