SAD DEATH OF CHAIRMAN CEDRIC KENNEDY

Cedric Kennedy, chairman of the Harpenden Trust, died peacefully late last week in the Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

Cedric joined the Harpenden Trust in 2015 and immediately put his skills in the wider financial field to work for the benefit of the Trust. When he became chairman in 2017 he committed to moving the organisation forward so that it became more involving and informed for the volunteers. He worked tirelessly for the Trust, even when his treatment was at its most difficult, and last week he was still working for its continuing success.

It was the volunteers whom he particularly praised when he thanked them at a celebration of the Trust's 70th anniversary on 31st October, and again when he appeared on Verulam Radio, and then live on BBC Three Counties Radio in early November.

His commitment to Harpenden - he was also an active Past President of the Harpenden Village Rotary Club - and to the Trust he was proud to lead for too short a time, gave no indication of how ill he had been. To those who worked with him, he rarely gave even a hint that he was not well, which is why his untimely death leaves the Trust and the community a poorer place.
