Mike Joiner’s Six Wheel Challenge in Aid of the Trust, 22 August

Mike Joiner, someone whom the Care Fund helped in the past, has put together an amazing personal challenge to raise funds for the Trust this summer.

Mike says: "The last 18 months has been tough on us all. For some tough is an understatement. Fortunately, our local charity, the Harpenden Trust, has been there to offer a vast array of support including financial help, befriending and everything in between. This has meant an impact on the Trust’s funds. Since falling ill in 2016 I wouldn’t have got by without the support of the Trust. Because of that and because of you I want to give something back."

"I’m not really sure how it happened but I’m seen as a local celebrity. Cars bib their horns, strangers come up to me excited to meet “Famous Mike”. I want to exploit my newly found status to raise funds for the Harpenden Trust."

"On Sunday, 22 August at 10.00am, starting in Queens Road,  Sweep, I and my sturdy chair will try and do as many loops of Harpenden Common  as we can. It would be really nice to see you or even join me for a loop if you wish. Keep bibbing those horns and coming to say Hi. Sweep loves the attention."

Nick Luckett, Chair of the Care Fund, said: “Mike is one of the most positive people you could wish to meet. We have known Mike at the Trust for several years both as a client and an active supporter. He asked if he could raise money to help us with the work we do in the town for both young and older folk. He has developed an amazing challenge as you can see below. I do hope you can support Mike’s 6 wheel challenge by donating and meeting up with him on August 22nd. Thank you Mike!"
