The Harpenden Trust wish to say a big thank you to the Plot 31 Community Garden for donating and planting bulbs outside the Trust office in Southdown. In 2019 three large adjoining plots were taken over by Plot 31 Community Garden at the Holcroft Road allotments in Batford to establish a community garden. A team of volunteers have worked very hard, despite the Covid 19 restrictions, and the Harpenden Trust Community Fund were pleased to provide financial support for the purchase of equipment and preparation of the garden. The Plot 31 Garden project has benefitted the local community in a variety of ways - keeping the participants fit, allowing people to come together as a community group and offering gardening opportunities to those coping with stress, mental health issues and loneliness.
Plot 31 have joined forces with the local Macmillan charity fund raising committee to run a year-long gardening project on a new plot adjoining the community garden, where they will grow and then dry flowers and sell in aid of Macmillan, also with the aim and hope of getting additional volunteers.
