Winners Update for the Christmas Card Competition - in aid of Harpenden Cares

You may have recently noticed a poster on our website and/or social media pages regarding a Christmas Card design competition organised by the Harpenden Lions Club, with sale proceeds from the cards being to be donated to Harpenden Cares.

Entries from two age groups – 9 years and under and 10-16 years - were judged by two members of the Lions Club and two members of the Harpenden Trust. We had some excellent entries and worthy winners and packs of 10 cards (5 each from the winner of each age category) are now being printed.

A pack of 10 cards costs just £3 and online orders will be delivered to the purchaser's home address for a nominal 50p charge (per order). Subject to any new Coronavirus restrictions, cards will also be sold by the Lions at a stall on the concourse in front of the Library in Harpenden town centre on the 4th, 6th, 9th and 11th of December. The First Blue Plaque in Harpenden

Steve Pryor the Chair of the Community Fund of the Harpenden Trust was delighted to be invited to the unveiling of the first blue plaque in Harpenden. The blue plaque was installed to acknowledge the tremendous work carried out by Harpenden resident Judy Fryd. New Support Pod for Harpenden Mencap - supported by the Harpenden Trust Community Fund

Harpenden Mencap is an independent charity caring for adults with learning disabilities in Harpenden and the local area. Community Fund contributes to the installation of a garden ramp at Homedell House

Homedell House is a well established Retirement Housing Complex in Harpenden where some of the residents are disabled and getting into the garden has proven difficult. The Community Fund are delighted to have provided a grant contributing towards the installation of a ramp into the garden making access that much easier. It is now regularly used and Mary Moynihan, Development Manager at Homedell House confirms 'the residents all love the ramp and thank you again for the Harpenden Trust contribution'.
