Harpenden Trust Community Fund Helps the Friends of Kinsbourne Green Common

The Harpenden Trust Community Fund was delighted to award a grant to the Friends of Kinsbourne Green Common to help them secure the land for the local community and future generations when it came up for sale.  Steve Pryor (Chair of the Community Fund) presented the Community Fund plaque to Sue Archer (Chair of Trustees) on a bright Friday morning.

There is a wide biodiversity of flora and fauna on the common that is now protected for future generations, with plans already in action to encourage more biodiversity, such as planting new trees.  Rare harebells have already been spotted growing on the common and the aim is to attract more wildlife such as skylarks.  The common is regularly used by local schools and scout groups as well as many walkers.

“The Friends of Kinsbourne Green Common was so delighted and grateful for the grant  from the Harpenden Trust.  Along with the many generous donations from the community, the grant helped us to purchase this much loved and well used local facility.  Kinsbourne Green Common is now truly funded and owned by local people, for the enjoyment of everyone.  We have a very special area of land now for us to nurture and cherish for future generations.”  Sue Archer, Chair of Trustees
