Harpenden Cares: Town Council Assisted Shopping, Food Bank and Befriending Announcement

Since launching in late March, Harpenden Cares — a community led initiative supported by Harpenden Town Council — has answered over 1,500 calls & emails, completed 980 food deliveries, and made 127 deliveries of prescription medications.

All aspects of Harpenden Cares are still there for your use despite the changes to government lockdown guidance, namely:

Assisted Shopping: Residents who are isolating for any reason are able to use the Harpenden Cares assisted shopping scheme. Residents make secure pre-payments for their supplies or medications, and Harpenden Cares volunteers will purchase and

deliver the requested items to your door.

Food Bank: Food bank donations are accepted at the Southdown Co-op. Food & Supply donations are then distributed to those in need in our local community.

Befriending Support: Harpenden Cares is utilising a network of street coordinators to ensure vulnerable people do not feel isolated or lonely, while ensuring they have access to the support they need.

Do you need access to any of the above services? For more information or to sign up, contact the Harpenden Cares Contact Centre 01582 460457, Open 10am-2pm from Monday to Friday, www.harpendencares.org
