Community Fund Helps With a New Library for Manland Primary School

Manland Primary School opened just after the Second World War and the school library was in urgent need of repair and renovation. There were considerable damp problems and the school started to work on a project which would involve a new modern library being established. This has now been successfully completed and the result is a modern library which is attractive to the children and provides not just space for books but is a site that is utilised fully for learning by groups of different sizes.

The Community Fund of the Harpenden Trust have been delighted to support this project which has added so much value to the pupils which is demonstrated by their enthusiasm for their new library.

Mrs Wicks, Headteacher, said: "Manland Primary School and its community would like to extend our huge thanks and appreciation to the Harpenden Trust. We were awarded a significant grant to help us create a new library for our children. At Manland, we see reading and the love of books as a top priority, and we wanted our children to have an inspiring place in school to call their library. With the support of the Harpenden Trust we were able to achieve this. On behalf of all of the staff, children and families, thank you for making this possible for us.
