Care Fund Helps with Piano and Stool at Walkers Court

Harpenden Trust were able to help Walkers Court, a retirement housing facility, in Southdown. Walkers Court were due to start work on a refurbishment of their communal lounge before the first lockdown in 2020 and, as of December, were still unable to fully use the lounge which continued to look somewhat forlorn.

Playing the piano is of great benefit to the residents. They might not be able to congregate but it is lovely for them to hear the piano being played. One resident in particular who does not go out much, loves to come down and listen to the pianist playing.

The Harpenden Trust’s Care Fund was able to help by putting Walkers Court in contact with a piano tuner and paying for the re-tuning of the piano, whilst the piano tuner was able to assist further with some great advice for looking after the piano in the future. In addition, and the icing on the cake, was that the Trust found and provided and then arranged for the delivery of a comfortable adjustable piano stool.

The picture shows the pianist, Elizabeth, at Walkers Court sitting on the new piano stool.
