Batford Springs Boardwalk and Reed Fen Project Formally Opened

After many months of tremendous work by the volunteers at Batford Springs the new boardwalk and reed fen were finally completed and formally opened by the Harpenden Town Mayor on 3 December, 2021.

The Harpenden Trust's Community Fund supported the project and their contribution meant a new reed fen could be excavated with the boardwalk being built over it. A natural lake has been formed and we all look forward to next summer when there should be a lovely display of wild flowers. The boardwalk is over 200 yards long and provides excellent access to this beautiful natural area.

A fantastic project which will be of great benefit to the town, successfully completed by local residents.
