A huge thank you to the Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra who performed at St Nicholas Church, Harpenden on Saturday 19th September in celebration of their 60th anniversary. A fantastic total of just over £600 was raised and donated to the Harpenden Trust! Alex Fryer conducted, Emily Groom was the leader, and the organist was Robert Mingay-Smith. The audience was treated to a fabulous programme comprising:
• Fauré – Masques et Bergamasques
• Français – Dances from les Malheurs de Sophie
• Poulenc – Organ concerto
• Ravel – Le Tombeau de Couperin
• Poulenc - Sinfonietta
Richard Nichols, Harpenden Trust Chair, spoke in the interval to thank everyone involved and to give an overview of the Harpenden Trust and the many ways in which it continues to support the local community. A special thanks also to all the Harpenden Trust volunteers who generously helped with the publicity and ticket sales for the concert and provided drinks during the evening. It was truly a memorable occasion. Thank you to everybody involved and especially to the Hertfordshire Chamber Orchestra.
